MEET HOST YOLANDA

I’ve relocated six times. Yep! I did all that. On purpose.

My first move was at age 10, leaving the Grenadines for England. Just imagine how that played out!

From sunshine, colorful houses to punk rockers, snow and  'dodgy' food. Culture shock was real THING!!

And yet, somehow, it went well.

We found a sense of belonging,  made a home away from home,  build a community of authentic friends, and overcame a ton of obstacles. Sigh!! . And I kept doing it. I moved to Europe, France, for a bit as a student, then move to the USA  - as a new wife.

Expat life is far more than geography, passports and container ships.  It's cultural differences, identity shifts, grief, and mental wellness.  I had to do it every time. Even the homesickness, moments of loneliness.  This expat life is not for the fainthearted.

I’ve created this expat podcast to talk about  the challenges of starting over in a foreign country; why integration takes so long -- the emotional side of expat life. Hear what every expat should know about starting over abroad, and the issue with 'fitting in'.   Stuff I wish I knew years ago.

Here, the people who move abroad, us expat women from different cultures, languages and incredible abilities share who we are and what we're doing.

So whether you call yourself an expat or immigrant woman, you've landed in the right spot.
