Useful external resources is here to help reduce overwhelm. Start with the one thing you need today.

These are ideas for you to try. They helped me reduce overwhelm. They cover offers I don't provide, like therapists, but they are ideas tried and tested. Start with what you need most today. I've '😍'  my favorites that worked for us. For tools, plain language support, start with my guides, community, podcast, and workshops.

😍 Parenting Support

For the kids, check out:

  • Your local PTA / PTO at local school. Great for entry point to meet other parents, attend a meeting to learn rhythm. See if it's a good fit for you.
  • School Counselors -- love them for new student support and peer buddy programs.
  • Local Parks & Recreation -- low-cost, group activities,  predictable routines to help the family stabilize
  • β™₯ Mommy & me groups; homework support, craft, book clubs.

Community & Belonging

Lower isolation through small, low-stakes interactions that don't require heavy explanation.

  • Meetup -  interest-based groups; book clubs are low-energy options. Walking groups and language exchanges are worth checking out.
  • Faith & cultural centers -- churches and cultural associations often provide ready-made community. Search for your culture+center+your city.
  • Local libraries are so underrated. Free events and classes, parent/child programs. Great for meeting like-minded souls

Wellbeing & Daily Life

The following are recommendations, or services I've used. They are not business partners or sponsors. I have no relationship with any of these options.

  • National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAM) Helpline -- support and local programs referrals via phone/text/chat.
  • 988 Lifeline 24/7 crisis support by call, text, or chat. Use for immediate emotional support
  • Open Path Collective -- Low-cost therapy network. Good for those paying out of pocket.
  • Psychology Today Therapist Finder -- large directory. Filter by 'language', 'multicultural', 'female', 'insurance' et.

If you're in immediate distress, contact 988 or 911
